This is a fairly straight-forward "Developing" film by Coronet, though the poor kid in this one doesn't have any friends besides a dog that cocks its head to either side. Not that he has any time for them. Frank even takes out tin cans on Monday.
Take a look at dad at 4:02 . Couldn't he make that thing on his head fit a little better?
The set designer came up with the oddest window covering over the back door of Frank's house.
There's no dialogue; the film is narrated over silent shots. The narrator is a chatty one. There's an awkward shot at 9:32 where we see half of Frank's body.

Awesome seeing a Coronet film that I've never seen before make it's debut in front of my very eyes. In this case Frank has a whole shit load of resposibilities, mainly involving his paper route. A customer on his paper route, Mr. Morgan notices Frank eyeing his dog, and almost immediately asks Frank for his address and phone number, which Frank gives of course. This is not a sid davis film! Apparently Mr. Morgan is moving, and wants to know if Frank wants the dog. Frank is all gung ho about this, but his parents have different ideas, too much responsibilites and chores will be put on him! Well gee, help the poor guy out once in a while, why don't you? This was a lot of fun! Highly reccomended!

OK, I cringed when Mr Morgan asked the kid for his address and then showed up at the house but since I didn't see Sid Davis in the credits I figured this had to be about something else.
Come to think of it, I saw this film in school as a kid in the 1950's. Swore right then and there I'd never deliver newspapers. This poor kid doesn't have a life and then stays up 'til 10 PM ruminating over all the stuff that stuffed vest dad of his expects him to do. In my world - same day and age as this...only the poor adopted kid 2 doors down (with remarkably similar looking and acting parents to those in this film) had to do stuff like that.
Anyone notice Mom sure had a glint in her eye when she saw Mr Morgan - but what's to wonder, look what she's married to. Yuck.
Nice dog though - and a pedigree, too.
